“Globalization in higher education is a
reality. Talent and ideas circulate across national boundaries. Our
students live in an age where they must know how to collaborate and
compete with their counterparts from around the world.”
Wallace D. Loh,
President, University of Maryland
In a letter to the University of Maryland Community, June 21, 2012
The Smith School recognizes that your classroom can be anywhere in the world.
As a future business leader, your international experience with one of our
Global Learning Programs will prepare you to compete internationally across
changing cultures and disappearing borders. Our semester-long and 10-21 day
short-term programs offer opportunities that will change the way you experience
the world forever.
You have the freedom to choose where you want to go while you develop a
particular expertise and advance an exciting career. Short-term options cover a
wide variety of destinations and topics such as Entrepreneurship in Paris and
Munich, Doing Business in Brazil, Hong Kong as a Financial Center, Microfinance
and Social Value Creation in Nicaragua and Supply Chain Management in Chile.
More destinations and topics are added every year. Most programs are open to UG,
MBA and EMBA students, as well as students from all departments across the UMD
campus and from other universities.
If you are able to fit a four-month long cultural immersion into your degree
plan, then choose a semester-abroad program in Rome, Haifa, Shanghai,
Barcelona…you can study almost anywhere you want. Semester options range from
dedicated Smith partners to any AACSB and/or Equis accredited institution in the
world.
Begin your global learning experience by meeting with your academic advisor.
Together, you can effectively select and map out your course selection(s).
Financial assistance and scholarships may be available.
