In Conversation with Maryland Department of Commerce Secretary, Kelly Schulz

On March 27, the Center for Global Business (CGB) welcomed newly-appointed Secretary Kelly Schulz of the Maryland Department of Commerce to highlight the priorities of and celebrate the continued partnership with the department. CGB’s executive director, Rebecca Bellinger, hosted the discussion with Schulz and addressed questions about her career path, keys to success in leadership, and international business development for the state of Maryland. The event, also a part of Women’s History Month at Maryland Smith, was the last installment of CGB’s Distinguished Speakers Series (DSS) in International Business for 2019 and was co-sponsored by the Ed Snider Center for Enterprise and Markets.

Smith School Alumni Address Importance of Global Mindset in the Workplace

On Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2017, the Center for Global Business (CGB) and the Office of Career Services (OCS) at the University of Maryland's Robert H. Smith School of Business hosted an alumni panel to discuss the value of global mindset in today’s business environment. Panelists included: Mikael Baker, senior project manager at FHI 360; Lana Bronipolsky, vice president of business operations at MPOWER Financing; and Maurice Nick, supply planning manager at Stanley Black & Decker. The panel was moderated by Rebecca L. Bellinger, managing director of the Center for Global Business.

UMD hosts Former Ambassador to Australia during International Education Week

Terps joined former Ambassador to Australia and University of Maryland alumnus John Berry for a luncheon conversation about how diplomacy fosters U.S. business overseas with a particular focus on Australia. The event, which took place on Monday, Nov. 13, 2017, kicked off International Education Week, an initiative of the U.S. Department of State and U.S. Department of Education to celebrate international education and exchange in the U.S. and throughout the world.
