Admissions Decisions

Once you have submitted your application by the January 3rd deadline, our admissions committees will begin reviewing all applications and begin making decisions and notifications by March. The selection committees make admissions decisions after careful deliberations. Unfortunately, due to the volume of applications, we cannot offer individual feedback to individuals denied admission.

Applicants may log in to their online application to check the status of their application at any time. Once a decision has been made on the application, the applicant will receive an email notification of an admission decision and provide information for logging into the online application. If applicants need assistance, they can contact either the UMD Graduate School or the Smith Doctoral Programs Office. Admissions decisions will not be released via telephone or in person.
