Why did you choose to attend the Smith School of Business?

As an international student, I would like to become familiar with local customs and integrate into the community. In addition, University of Maryland’s location also provides more opportunities to meet with potential employers in order to obtain an internship and/or a full-time job. With a good reputation and excellent faculty, the Robert H. Smith School of Business is one of the best in the United States. The curriculum also provides exactly what we need, analytical skills and critical thinking skills, which help to achieve success in the financial industry.

In your opinion, what makes your Smith MS program unique?

As one of few 2-year Master of Finance programs in the United States, this program provides more opportunities to learn about American financial institutions and improve soft skills. Because of many workshops and career coaching sessions offered by the Office of Career Services (OCS), students have a better chance to find an internship in the U.S. Furthermore, students can also gain practical experience through the Experimental Learning Project and Global Equity Fund. Generally speaking, during their Smith School tenure, students will have more opportunities to apply what they have learned to real-world situations and thus improve their skills.

What advice would you give to a future applicant?

The best way to know about the Smith School is to ask those who know about it. If you would like to know what it feels like to work in certain parts of the financial industry, find some experts and ask them about it. If you wonder how life is at the Robert H. Smith School of Business, please reach out to me or the other MS Ambassadors, and we can chat about this.
