Why did you choose to attend the Smith School of Business?
I researched a number of programs to determine where I could best achieve my professional goals. Once I confirmed that Smith is the place where I could successfully make the career transition from Financial Services to Corporate Finance, I focused on whether Smith was the right “fit.” I took part in the Visitors Program and attended the Smith Showcase. It was from these experiences and conversations with current students that the collaborative culture of the Smith School became abundantly clear. The scholarship opportunities at Smith also played a role in my final decision.
In your opinion, what makes the Smith MBA program unique?
First, the smaller class size of the Smith MBA program allows for truly personal attention from the faculty, staff, and Office of Career Services. It also provides ample opportunity for students to take leadership roles.
Second, my classmates are supremely talented and driven. My fellow classmates have an enthusiasm for what can be accomplished and that was evident from my first interactions with them. The energy is infectious, and this atmosphere pushes everyone to support one another. We genuinely want each other to succeed.
What advice would you give to future Smith MBA candidates?
I encourage you to determine your reasons for coming back to school. Ask yourself tough questions about your professional goals and how an MBA is going to help you achieve them. By doing this self-reflection now, you will be able to hit the ground running when you arrive on campus and take full advantage of what the Smith MBA program has to offer.
