MBA/MRED Degree Overview

Combining business management expertise with specialized knowledge of real estate development

The business of real estate reaches into all aspects of our communities and institutions, from housing to schools and offices, these are the places where we live, learn, and work. The University of Maryland – College Park is one of the first universities to provide the MRED degree, while the MBA degree offered by the Smith School is a world-renowned and highly ranked program.

The curriculum will provide students with a broad base of business knowledge, management skills, and theory applicable to a wide range of business, and the specialized knowledge and applied skills in developing, financing, and managing real estate assets. The combination of real estate development knowledge and business management expertise will offer students the skill and practice to become innovators who will have impactful and unparalleled careers in real estate.

Graduation Requirements

The dual degree program, which can be completed in 2 to 2.5 years, requires a total of 74 credits, with 42 credits from the MBA program and 32 credits from the MRED program. MRED classes are offered in the evening at College Park.
