The OCS technology team works hard to provide you a wide array of resources to support your career development, from research/exploration through skills development to job application and employment reporting. Virtual platforms are especially important so that students with busy schedules can access resources when they need them, regardless of the hour! Here is the technology team:

Best-in-Class Career Development Resources

Below is a list of the technology tools available to you as a Smith student. Many of the career resources listed in this section are paid for by Smith or by UMD and are free for you as a student, so it is important to use the links we provide to access the Smith/UMD version.

  • HireSmith - HireSmith is a full-service resource for employers, students and alumni. Our employers search for ideal candidates to fill their business needs. Smith students and alumni conduct job searches, contact our coaches and sign up for our career events.

  • Case Vault - Do you need some help navigating case interviews? If so, take some time to practice cases via this free resource by Marc Cosentino, author of Case in Point.

  • Dreambridge Videos - Short videos offering practical advice coupled with systematic learning opportunities for international students that address acculturation success and job search strategy. Note: For students accessing Dreambridge from China, please use the UMD VPN to view the site's videos on Vimeo.

  • Hoovers - The industry-leading business directory which provides comprehensive company and industry profiles, in-depth financials, company overviews and histories, information on competitors, products, services and operations. (To access, click on "Company Information" then "Hoovers". You will be asked to log in; use your assigned username and password.)

  • InterviewStream - Practice mock interviews, review interview tips and record and playback your interviews for your own analysis. This tool is accessible through the Careers 4 Terps website, to which all Smith students have access.

  • MBA Exchange - As a Smith student, you have premium access to this website which connects MBAs and employers across the world and allows you to search thousands of filtered MBA level jobs. This site also features a comprehensive directory of MBA Leadership Development Programs worldwide.

  • SEDA - SEDA, short for Smith Employment Data Analytics, is a  share platform, designed by MBAs for MBAs, so that anonymized year-over-year data depicting offer timing, salaries, signing bonuses, industries, functions and locations can be viewed transparently. It is a web-based salary research tool that will make salary negotiation much more productive and efficient. 

  • QS Global Workplace (TopMBA) - Provides information on recruiting trends and international job opportunities. You can also sign up for email alerts on MBA-level jobs around the world.

  • Terrapins Connect - A new professional networking and mentorship platform and we invite you to join. This platform will connect you with UMD alumni who have been in your shoes and are eager to share their educational and professional experiences.

  • Trusted Insight - Attention Finance Students! Leverage our extensive library of curated investment career opportunities with exclusive access to insights and career advice from top investment professionals. Prepare for your next interview with timely, in-depth news coverage on private markets and institutional investment. Research institutions and investors through Trusted Insight's global network.

  • Learn Educate Discover (LED) - A set of free podcasts featuring discussions with MBAs about their jobs to help you explore functions and industries as you discover your MBA career path.

  • UniWorld - A directory of multinational employers, searchable by industry and business location. Ideal for international students or students seeking international experience. 

  • Vault - Best known for its rankings, ratings and reviews on thousands of top employers, Vault also provides information on nearly 5,000 companies in more than 120 industries as well as more than 840 professions. Included are career advice blogs and discussions, a job search engine and anonymous interviews with current and past employees. Of particular note are Vault's downloadable guidebooks in industries such as consulting, investment banking, IT, etc. Our exclusive access link launches to Career Insider, a web site that provides additional information beyond what is available on the public Vault site.

  • VMock - A resume review tool which will scan your resume and offer specific suggestions for improvement and Smith template compliance.

  • Wetfeet - Similar to Vault, Wetfeet provides industry overviews, insider's information and downloadable career guides. Some industries are covered better by one or the other, for example, Finance is covered better by Vault while Supply Chain Management is covered better by Wetfeet.
