Smith Undergraduate Career Fair

Event Information

The spring Smith Undergraduate Career Fair will take place on Friday, February 8, 2019, at the Riggs Alumni Center at the University of Maryland's College Park campus.

7:30 a.m.: Employer Check-In & Set-Up

9–10 a.m.: First Look Fair for Freshmen and Sophomores

10 a.m.–2 p.m.: Career Fair

Registration Information

Employers can register now on the new HireSmith platform starting in mid-November. This year's fair is expected to sell out, so employers are encouraged to register early to secure a booth!

Registration package includes an 8' x 6' space (16' x 6' for double booth) with skirted table (6' x 2') and chairs, continental breakfast, catered lunch, wireless access, parking, fair app inclusion, booth signage, and access to an electrical outlet (if requested on registration form). Price for single booth includes four attendees while double booths include eight attendees. Attendees over the stated limit will incur a $100 fee per attendee.

Please note: Booths are assigned only when payment or proof-of-payment-forthcoming is received. 

Booth Pricing:

  • Standard single booth: $700
  • Government/non-profit single booth: $550
  • Standard double booth: $1300
  • Government/non-profit double booth: $1000

Directions, Parking & Accommodations

The Riggs Alumni Center is located at 7801 Alumni on the University of Maryland campus. Employers will receive parking instructions prior to the date of the fair.

Visit our Conferences and Visitor Services website for accommodation options. The College Park Marriott Hotel is closest to the Riggs Alumni Center, but there are many additional hotel options adjacent to campus, including The Hotel at the University of Maryland.

Shipping Information

Advantage Conference & Expo is coordinating the freight for the Smith Undergraduate Career Fair. Fair materials that need to be shipped to the event will go through Advantage, and companies can also arrange for return shipment after the fair. Shipping instructions will be available soon. The shipping guide provides a comprehensive overview of the shipping process, timeline, and rates. Please note the deadline for shipping materials to the fair through Advantage without incurring additional costs is Monday, January 28, 2019.

Deadlines & Cancellation Policy

  • Registration deadline (last day to ensure inclusion in printed materials or career fair app): January 25, 2019
  • Cancellation deadline: January 25, 2019
  • Payment deadline: January 25, 2019
  • Advantage shipping deadline: January 28, 2019

Cancellation Policy:

You may cancel your registration before Friday, January 25, 2019, at 11:59 p.m. EST to receive a full refund and not owe a fair registration balance. All cancellations must be submitted in writing via email to Failure to cancel in writing by the cancellation deadline will leave the employer responsible for the registration fee, regardless of circumstances.

All other cancellations made after this deadline - including cancellations made by employers who register after the cancellation deadline - will still be billed and no refund will be administered. Employers who register and do not show up to the fair will also remain responsible for payment.

Inclement Weather Policy:

Should the event be canceled due to inclement weather or other unforeseen circumstances, credit will be given for a future fair.
