Moneca Surida-ClyburnAssistant Director, MS Career Programs

Moneca is a training, education and development professional with over 20 years experience. For nearly 12 years, Moneca has been a member of the Office of Career Services (OCS).  During this time, she has worked with graduate student populations, to include engagements with, the Full-time MBA Program, Executive MBA Program, and MS Program in both management and coaching roles that support student success in achieving their individual career goals. Her most recent work includes leading the MS Specialty Masters programming efforts for a large international student population. Her wealth of experience in working with the array student groups at the Smith School, affords her an inclusive perspective, with regard to student priorities, engagement and readiness for career success.

Immediately prior to joining the Smith School in 2005, Moneca led the training efforts at The National Institutes of Health as a project manager and served as an international student consultant with the Arabian Oil Company for nearly 300 international students pursuing U.S.-based academic programs.

Moneca has a bachelor's degree in mass media communication from Bennett College, and two graduate degrees: a master of business administration and a master of human resource management, from the University of Maryland, University College. She is a current candidate for the PHR certification. Moneca is a lifelong learner and is greatly fulfilled by culturally enriching experiences. She enjoys working with adult learners, writing and word games.
