Emily Giacomini coaches students through the job search process, empowering them to identify a career hypothesis, hone a value proposition, market themselves to a professional network, prepare for interviews, negotiate offers and celebrate success in accepting a position they love. She supports several clubs, designs and delivers interactive career workshops and collaborates with employers to maximize their strategic engagement with students. Giacomini also co-leads Smith in the Valley each spring, connecting students with alumni hosts at top tech firms in Silicon Valley.
Giacomini came to Maryland Smith in fall 2016 after five years coaching full-time MBA’s at Penn State’s Smeal College of Business. Early in her career she taught English for two years on the JET program in Japan and spent five years in purchasing at P&G. Giacomini made a career shift into learning & development in non-profit for the federal government and ultimately higher education. She has studied, lived and worked abroad in the Middle East, Asia and Europe and brings a unique cross-cultural perspective, walking alongside students in the job search.
Giacomini earned her BA in French from Davidson College and a dual degree: MBA from Arizona State and Master of International Management from Thunderbird. She holds an MBA Career Coach certification from The Academies.
