The Accenture MBA Case Competition, the third of four experiential learning modules (ELMs) for Smith School MBAs, took place May 11-16, 2001.

Tens of thousands of people came to the University of Maryland this past Saturday for the annual Maryland Day celebration! The Smith School was explored by hundreds of prospective students and their families. The Undergraduate Business Program Overview was standing room only and the Smith Passport to Prizes was a huge success! A Handspring Visor Deluxe Handheld Organizer ($250 value) was the grand prize.

Entrepreneurial Spirit

A team of five talented Smith School MBA students won second place at the fourth annual Venture Capital Investment Competition (VCIC ). The competition was held at the Kenan-Flagler Business School, University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill (March 29-31, 2001).

College Park, MD - May 27, 1999 - Leo Van Munching Jr. has donated $6 million to help finance the expansion and renovation of Van Munching Hall, the home of the Robert H. Smith School of Business at the University of Maryland, College Park. An alumnus of the Smith School, Van Munching graduated from the University of Maryland in 1950 with a degree in marketing and business administration. He is the retired president of Van Munching & Co., the sole U.S. importer of Heineken Beer.
