Smith undergraduates Kirk Morris and Hamza Choudery both landed dream internships in summer 2015 with Facebook. The current juniors will return to the social networking giant this summer for another internship as part of the 37-person inaugural cohort of the two-year Facebook University for Business program.
Morris says the environment and culture at Facebook truly reflect the company’s mission: To make the world more open and connected. He and Choudery rave about the experience of working closely with Facebook employees on impactful projects.
“The Facebook campus is really an incredible place to work,” Choudery says. “The perks are great, but the open and connected culture is what really resonated with me. The campus is highly concentrated with talented individuals that are keen to collaborate.”
“Sometimes I’ll walk around campus and think to myself, ‘Wow, this internship has totally changed my life,’” Morris says. “It truly was a dream internship. We had so many opportunities to have complete ownership of our projects. We got to meet amazing people, I made amazing friends and we got to listen to some of the most talented people in Silicon Valley — from Mark Zuckerberg to Sheryl Sandberg.”
Choudery will spend summer 2016 in Facebook’s New York office working with the Global Marketing Solutions team. Morris will return to the company’s Menlo Park, Calif., headquarters as a product specialist.
