All 330 second-year Smith part-time MBA students joined for the first time at the inaugural Part-time MBA Case Competition's final round on Jan. 17 in College Park. A new study on prolific authors in accounting literature cites Lawrence A. Gordon, Smith's Ernst & Young Alumni Professor of Managerial Accounting and Information Assurance and director of the Ph.D. Program, as the world's 35th most prolific author in the field of accounting, placing him among the top one percent.

Nearly 400 students joined family and friends on Sunday, Dec. 21, 2003, to celebrate their graduation from the Smith School of Business. Paul J. Norris MBA '71 (pictured right), chairman and CEO of W.R. Grace & Co., a premier global specialty chemicals and materials company, delivered the keynote speech.

Showcasing their business savvy for more than a dozen high-powered companies, 72 freshman College Park Scholars (CPS) students competed in the 6th Annual Strategy Board Competition, on Dec. 11, 2003. In the competition, student teams study and make strategic recommendations for real-world companies. Each team illustrates its recommended strategy on a display board, which is evaluated by a team of three judges, including a representative of the company.
