PepsiCo, Under Armour and the Big Four accounting firms joined newcomers like Comcast NBCUniversal and M&T Bank at the fall 2019 Undergraduate Career Fair hosted by the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business. Overall, 127 employers from all sectors and industries connected with more than 1,200 Maryland Smith students on Sept. 20, 2019, at the Xfinity Center in College Park, Md.

Two authors with opposing viewpoints focused on the concept of coercion during a socialism vs. capitalism debate on Sept. 17, 2019, at the University of Maryland.

“Freedom means the absence of coercion,” said Yaron Brook, author of "Free Market Revolution: How Ayn Rand's Ideas Can End Big Government" and chairman of the Ayn Rand Institute. “Freedom means the absence of a gun put to your head, where you’re told what to do.”

World Class Faculty & Research

The University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business welcomed eight new faculty members for the start of the fall 2019 semester. The new faculty joined three Smith academic departments to teach courses and focus on research.

The Decision, Operations and Information Technologies Department added four faculty members:

John Bono, associate clinical professor, has a PhD in information systems from Nova Southeastern University.

Jui Ramaprasad, associate professor, has a PhD from the University
