The Center for Global Business (CGB) at Maryland Smith announced that Audra Wormald, a PhD candidate in the department of management and organization, has received the 2020 PhD International Research Award. The award is funded by CIBE, a Title VI grant provided by the U.S. Department of Education to support research in international business.

The Center for Global Business at Maryland Smith supported 10 students in the International Business (IB) Trek of Smith in the City: D.C. on March 6, 2020. Hosted and organized by the Smith Undergraduate Student Association and the Office of Career Services, Smith in the City is a one-day event for undergraduate students to visit companies in Washington, D.C. in order to learn about business practices in various sectors. Few class projects deliver the kind of global impact that comes from those in David Ashley’s course. Ashley, an executive in residence at the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business, teaches a course that links undergraduate students with entrepreneurs in Africa and helps them grow their businesses. The projects are part of a first-of-its-kind partnership with a U.S. African Development Foundation program that supports young entrepreneurs in Africa.
