Intermodal Job Portal

Welcome Intermodal Association of North America Members!

Our Partnership

IANA and the Robert H. Smith School’s Supply Chain Fellows Program are pleased to partner together to provide direct hiring access for the intermodal industry’s Supply Chain needs at the Undergraduate level. To facilitate the recruitment of Supply Chain Fellows students into careers in Transportation Logistics and Operations, The Smith School’s Office of Career Services and IANA have jointly developed this intermodal job  portal, which is funded through the Association’s annual Scholarship Award to the Smith School’s Supply Chain Fellows Program.

We believe that the Supply Chain Management Program has benefited significantly from the Fellows Program, made possible through our partnership with IANA.  Without this partnership and IANA's scholarship funding, the Program’s cornerstone initiatives which progress the education of the next generation of managers of the intermodal freight and transportation industry,  would not have been possible.  There is no substitute for the exposure given to all of our Fellows students through attendance at the Intermodal EXPO, the study trips to critical intermodal facilities throughout the U.S., and the opportunity to interact with transportation executives, including IANA Board members.

The University of Maryland's Supply Chain Program ranks #3 in research (Transportation Journal) and #7 in the nation in Supply Chain Management Undergraduate Programs (U.S. News and World Report). Our curriculum is state-of-the-art and includes extensive hands-on work with cutting edge supply chain information technology and software applications in a dedicated supply chain lab. Additionally, the Smith School of Business Supply Chain Management Program is among only a handful of American schools which specifically address the role of intermodal transportation within the domestic and global supply chains.

IANA Fellow Student Testimonials

“IANA's generous sponsorship of our Fellows program allowed our group to attend the IANA conference earlier this month in Anaheim, CA. We thoroughly enjoyed observing first-hand the Port of Long Beach, the Union Pacific's Intermodal Transfer facility, as well as navigating the convention's showroom floor. These amazing experience further confirmed my desires to enter the transportation, logistics, and intermodal industry after my graduation in May 2013.” – Josh F.

"I thought the trip to the IANA Conference was amazing! It was a great opportunity to speak with professionals in the industry and learn more about the profession I'm pursuing. The tour of the Port of Long Beach was fantastic! It's one thing to learn about a port through textbooks and lectures, but actually seeing the port was a learning experience!” – Jennifer C.

“By meeting with industry professionals during class as well as at the Expo in Texas, I was able to learn more about how the book knowledge applied to everyday life in the industry.” – David E.

“The SCM Fellows program has been an overall rewarding experience. The trip to the IANA conference, tours of the railroad facilities and UPS plant, and guest speakers have really brought to life what we learn in the classroom.”- Rachael L.
