March is women's month at the Smith School, where we celebrate a month of empowerment, enlightenment and education. Smith alumnae and female students are invited to connect with one another in this second annual online meetup.

Alumnae: We are looking for alumnae willing to offer insights to current students about their career paths, industries and issues unique to women in the workplace to better prepare them for life after graduation. If you are interested in volunteering as a booth representative for this event, please email Danielle Stackus at dstackus@rhsmith.umd.edu.

Female students are invited to connect with Smith alumnae to ask questions, learn about their chosen industry and start building their professional network.

Here are some ideas on how to get the conversation started:

  • What did you study?
  • What do you do professionally?
  • What are you looking to provide or gain from this chat?
  • Can I ask for your advice on ____?
  • If you could do one thing differently in your career, what would it be?

Our online, cloud-based platform makes it easy and fun for you to participate. After signing in from your home, office, smartphone or tablet, you’ll participate in 1-on-1 chats with other attendees. The chats are text-based and timed, allowing you to quickly meet new people, exchange contact information, and walk away with several new connections you didn't have before. Each chat is saved, making it simple to look back at your history, review your notes, gather contact information and follow up.
