Donna Blackman

In its seventh year, Women Leading Women returned to showcase our fearless alumnae and other enterprising women in business from the classroom to the C-suite. The annual event is a celebration of female empowerment that inspires and challenges attendees to realize and reach their full potential.

This year’s honored guest was Donna Blackman, EMBA ’10, senior vice president of business operations at BET Networks. On Thursday, March 1, 2018, she sat down with Smith School Lecturer Nicole Coomber in a moderated one-on-one discussion to talk about her career progression, leadership philosophy, and personal testimony. Blackman began her journey to the C-suite at KPMG, advancing to leadership roles at Marriott International before ascending the ranks at BET Networks, a subsidiary of Viacom.

Blackman is a trailblazer who is passionate about women in leadership, embracing and driving change, and leading with integrity.

Women Leading Women kicked off a monthlong celebration of Women’s History Month at the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business. A networking reception immediately followed the event, where guests mingled with fellow attendees, this year’s honoree, and past honorees.
