BMGT469K: Social Entrepreneurship and Innovation in the Contemporary South African Context

The course will provide opportunities for theoretical engagement, experiential learning and reflection through a combination of case studies, site visits and meetings with social innovators, activists, and local individuals seeking systemic change in the surrounding communities of Cape Town, South Africa. Students will be immersed in the world of designing creative, sustainable processes towards social change using multiple learning strategies. A diverse group of students are purposefully selected for this course to engage in difficult conversations around issues of race/racism, gender equality, religious expression, socioeconomic opportunity, sexual orientation, politics and cultural diversity in South Africa and the United States.
