Events & Marketing Manager, Dingman Center for Entrepreneurship
Haley Mates joined the Dingman Center for Entrepreneurship in October 2020 as the events & marketing manager. She is a Maryland Smith alum herself and graduated cum laude from the design fellows track with a dual degree in marketing and supply chain management in 2014. Prior to joining the Dingman team, Mates held several event management roles in the Washington, D.C. area with companies such as Sweetgreen, a fast-casual salad chain, and Design Cuisine, a prominent catering firm in the area. Mates is also a former entrepreneur herself and had started a dessert business, Pops by Haley, based out of Union Kitchen, an incubator for start-up food businesses in Washington, D.C. The products retailed in over 25 stores nationwide including Dylan’s Candy Bar, Whole Foods Market, and Balducci’s Food Lover’s Market.
Mates is excited to be back at “home” at the University of Maryland and looks forward to fostering entrepreneurial growth among Maryland Smith students and encouraging student involvement in the many wonderful programs and events that the Dingman Center for Entrepreneurship has to offer. She currently resides in Potomac, Maryland with her husband, a fellow Terp alum, who she met while attending the university.
