Are you looking to expand your business globally, solve an international business challenge, or get a consultant’s perspective? Here’s your chance to consult with a Smith School MBA or undergraduate student team.

Program Features

  • Student teams provide as many as 10 hours per week of consulting per semester on one consulting project.
  • Recommendations are based on project scope, which could include a review of a company’s global strategy.
  • Students are advised by our top-rated Smith School faculty, along with the Maryland Department of Commerce, Office of International Investment, and trade subject matter experts.
  • Consulting projects may be aligned with one traditional functional area or cross-functional areas, including data analytics, fintech, blockchain, etc.
  • Student teams will provide a set of actionable recommendations at the conclusion of the project.

Annual Deadlines

Projects may run June-August, September-December, or January-May.

As the first academic partner of the Maryland Partners in International Trade (MAPIT) program, the Center for Global Business works in partnership with the Maryland Department of Commerce, Office of International Investment and Trade to help raise awareness of existing export promotion programs, facilitate greater access and usage of the state’s programs, and build new globally-focused programs such as the Maryland Global Export Consulting Program, the first piece of the MAPIT portfolio. The Global Export Consulting Program is funded in part by CIBE, a Title VI grant administered by the U.S. Department of Education.
