Through the CIBE grant, the Center for Global Business at Maryland Smith is a partner of the National District Export Council (NADEC) and supports its annual DEC Leadership Conference held each fall in Washington, D.C. and the annual DEC meeting held each spring.
These meetings bring together over 1300 policymakers, business people, trade organizations, and educators from across the U.S. who are associated with their local DEC organization. Go to usaexporter.org to access the NADEC website and the most up to date information on their conference and meeting.
Maryland Department of Commerce
The Maryland Department of Commerce and the University of Maryland’s Center for Global Business (CGB) are joining forces to grow the Maryland economy through job creation and increased exports.
As one of the initial collaborators in the Maryland Partners in International Trade program or MAPIT, the Smith School’s CGB will offer Maryland companies access to research, student talent and executive training to help them succeed in the global marketplace. The program is a partnership between key players from local, state and federal government and academia to raise awareness of existing export promotion programs, facilitate greater access and usage of the state’s ExportMD grant and other programs, and build new globally-focused programs.
Through the Maryland Global Consulting Program, Maryland exporters can work with a team of the school’s MBA or undergrad students to address challenges their company is facing in international business. The businesses will receive customized consulting assistance, and the students will have an opportunity to apply the skills and knowledge learned in the classroom to real-world challenges.
