Monday, November 13

‘Smith is Global’ Kick-Off
9-11 a.m. | Van Munching Hall
Stop by the Employer of the Day desk at the front of Van Munching Hall for breakfast treats and learn more about IEW events.

Luncheon with U.S. Ambassador to Australia John Berry
12:30-2 p.m. | 2333 Van Munching Hall
U.S. Ambassador to Australia John Berry will discuss how U.S. business and U.S. diplomacy interact in the international sphere, with an emphasis on his experience with Australia. He will have a few preliminary remarks but will leave the majority of the session open to Q&A. The event will be moderated by Associate Director Joe Scholten from the Office of International Affairs at the University of Maryland.

Cross-Cultural Card Commotion
6:30-7:30 p.m. | 1415 Van Munching Hall
Communication is vital in today’s business world. Through this interactive exercise, learn how to communicate with different people and develop tools for successful communication in a variety of situations.

Tuesday, November 14

Global Trivia Game
Noon-1 p.m. | Van Munching Hall
Stop by the OGI table in the Van Munching Atrium and play a game of global trivia or take the online quiz.

Global Competencies for the Workplace Panel
6-7:30 p.m. | 2333 Van Munching Hall
The Center for Global Business (CGB) will host a panel discussion on Global Competencies for the 21st Century Workplace. Learn from Smith School alumni about the importance of a global mindset in today's business environment. Smith Day

Celebrate Smith Day and the global reach of Smith. Students and alumni throughout the world will use #UMDSmithProud to share reasons for being proud to be a Smith alum.

Brazil Program Information Session
12:30–1:30 p.m. | 2534 Van Munching Hall
Learn all about a new semester course with an embedded study abroad component to Brazil. Students will earn three credits while participating in this dynamic and applied Spring semester course. Deadline to apply is Dec. 1, 2017.

International Coffee Hour

Enjoy a casual gathering for global conversation.

Global Internship Information Session

Learn about how you can spend the summer of a lifetime working abroad at a guaranteed internship. Free Pizza!

Change the World Consulting Showcase
6:30-8:30 p.m. | 2333 Van Munching Hall
See how students used their business skills to help nonprofits and social ventures solve complex problems. During the showcase, teams will give lightning pitches to guests on the problem they were asked to tackle and the unique approach they used to solve it. Guests have the opportunity to vote for the team that created the best solution to the problem identified by their client.

Language Learning for Business

Hear about language learning at UMD and how employment opportunities arise when you are multi-lingual. Sponsored by CGB and SLLC.

PhD Lunch & Learn
Noon-1 p.m. | 2330 Van Munching Hall
Attend a brown bag lunch-and-learn to hear a Ph.D. student's perspective about conducting research overseas. Lanfei Shi will discuss her research about improving mobile technology for managing chronic conditions among adults with diabetes and comparing the impact across the U.S. and China. Desserts and beverages will be provided.
