Tuesday, February 20, 2018
Van Munching Hall 2511
The Center for Health Information and Decision Systems (CHIDS) and the Robert H. Smith School of Business, will host Robert Lord, President and Co-founder of Protenus. Protenus uses artificial intelligence to help healthcare organizations protect patient privacy and secure health data. Based in Baltimore with clients nationwide, Protenus is at the forefront of applying machine learning methods to advance healthcare cybersecurity.
Lord began his career designing and managing analytical systems for the world’s most successful hedge fund, Bridgewater Associates. He attended the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine where he and Protenus Co-founder Nick Culbertson saw firsthand how electronic medical records are used to improve patient care and share data more efficiently.
Lord will share his experiences in co-founding a high-growth healthcare cybersecurity analytics company in Maryland, with a particular focus on identifying an initial market, establishing an MVP, and determining product-market fit. Along the way, he will also discuss critical issues in our nation's healthcare cybersecurity infrastructure, and novel approaches that academia, government and the private sector should take to address these challenges.
Lord will give a talk on Tuesday, February 20, 2018, from Noon-1:30 p.m. in VMH 2511. A light lunch will be served. Please RSVP by February 17 by emailing email@example.com.
