Diversity at Smith

The Diversity Empowerment Council (DEC) is a multinational, multiethnic student body comprised of a diverse representation of student leadership at the Robert H. Smith School of Business. Led by Damon King, a senior in operations management and business analytics, DEC represents and expands our community’s conception of diversity, while boosting student integration and strengthening unity. Through partnerships with Smith's Undergraduate Dean Victor Mullins, Chief Diversity Officer Terrill Drake, Assistant Director of Undergraduate Programming Jeanette Snider, and Smith’s student government (SUSA), DEC proactively rallies for underrepresented and marginalized communities, while celebrating the diversity that exists within all of us. Diversity & Inclusion Statement

One of the defining hallmarks of America is our innate ability to grow progressively and to open the doors of opportunity irrespective of one's race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, differing abilities, religion, or socioeconomic status. The University of Maryland's Robert H. Smith School of Business champions the cause of diversity and inclusion. We continue to foster a community where everyone's voice is heard and valued.
