Bobvita Salters

Bobvita Salters Jones, Strategic Director of Human Resources & Payroll
Bobvita is responsible for the creation and maintenance of a vibrant organizational culture that enhances the mission of the Robert H. Smith School of Business while providing employees with a stimulating, supportive and fun work environment. She ensures that all HR activities and services are carried out and are consistent with the overall strategic mission and plan of the school. Bobvita provides a wide range of consultative support services for the school as it pertains to the employment/recruitment process, J1, H1-B and Permanent Residency procedures, Employee Relations and Classification and Compensation. She also serves as Equity Officer.

Monica Johnson

Monica Johnson, Human Resources Manager
Monica provides support in the areas of employment, recruitment and payroll. She processes employment changes, prepares and distributes all Contingent 1 contracts, supports departments in advertising for new positions, and assists Search Committee Chairs in all administrative aspects of search and selection. Monica also provides assistance using the eTerp system to Smith School users and places outside advertisements for departments while recruiting for open positions.

Karen Phillips, Associate Director of Training and Development
Karen is responsible for design, development and delivery of Smith-specific training programs in support of the school's mission and strategic objectives. In addition, she works with the Director of Human Resources and senior leadership to develop departmental team building activities and department-specific trainings. Karen believes that professional development is the journey that anyone who wants to excel must take.

Mary Crowe

Mary Crowe, Payroll Manager
Mary creates and processes payroll appointments for staff, graduate assistants, and student/hourly employees. She is the contact person for benefits questions. She conducts the new GA payroll and benefits orientation seminar and is also the approver of tuition remission forms, FMLA/Advanced sick leave, time entry adjustments, and parking coordination.

Jessica Houchens

Jessica Houchens, Payroll Manager
Jessica creates and processes payroll for faculty, staff, graduate assistants and hourly student employees. She is the contact person for payroll, health benefit, retirement and parking questions and/or inquiries. Prior to the Smith School, Jessica worked as a Business Services Specialist in the English Department at the University of Maryland – College Park.

La Kisha Howard

La Kisha Howard, Payroll Manager
La Kisha creates and processes payroll for faculty, staff, graduate assistants and students (hourly) employees. She is the contact person for payroll and benefits questions and/or inquiries. She prepares adjunct contracts, process teaching and non-teaching overloads, LWOP, Sabbaticals, Summer Research, Pay and School Pay. La Kisha reviews lecturer contracts, review and approve payroll appointments, pay and time adjustments. She oversees and manages the extra compensation database and serves as a transportation coordinator for the Smith School and is back-up for both payroll managers (Jessica and Mary).
