Important -- Checklist before filling out this form, please read carefully!

• With the schools Web server migration in Fall 2004, basically all users will be granted the access to the Web site through FrontPage.

• All Department/Center/Office Web contacts are required to use FrontPage 2003 application for Web site updates with attached template file. All editing must be done on the Development web server at www.devsmith.umd.edu only.

• Note: Anyone wishing to make updates to the Smith School Web site must complete FrontPage training with the Office of Marketing Communications prior to accessing the Web site. Send e-mail to webupdates@rhsmith.umd.edu to schedule an appointment. Students working on clubs and organizations Web sites and faculty members creating personal sites are exempt from this rule.

• Please read the 'How To' instructions to find out the procedure to publish your changes to the main school site using FrontPage 2003.

• Notes to Faculty/Ph.D students and Student Club contacts:
  -- Faculty's personal website will be located under /faculty/ directory.
  -- Ph.D students' personal websites will be located under /faculty/phd/ directory (have the option to transfer the website to /faculty/ directory if appropriate).
  -- Student Club websites will be located under /organizations/ web directory.
  
  Everyone will have FrontPage access by default. While Faculty members/Ph.D students and Student Club contacts will have the option to gain access through FTP.
  -- For the users who want to work on the local website and need FTP access to upload files to the server, they will access and do updates on the live web server at www.rhsmith.umd.edu directly (with both Frontpage and FTP access).
  -- For the users who do not need FTP, we can grant you the access to both development web server as well as the production web server, with FrontPage access. In this case, you can take the same advantage as our other Web contacts, that Web content editing can be done on the development website first, then publish or transfer files to the production web server.
   

• Students do not have personal Web sites on the Smith school's Web server. If you are a student and need a personal Web space, please visit campus OIT helpdesk or contact Smith IT helpdesk.
