IMPORTANT Checklist Before Filling Out the Web
Access Request Form, Please Read
Carefully! Submit the form if appropriate.

Office of Marketing
Communications is currently maintaining all Smith School's
official websites, including all individual websites for
Academic Departments, school Offices and Centers. No Web
access will be granted to those sites unless have
special approval. If you do have special needs to access
and maintain a subweb, please contact Office of
Marketing Communications at
webupdates@rhsmith.umd.edu.

Faculty, Ph.D Students and Student Club/Organization
Contacts can
still gain Web access and maintain their personal or
organizational websites. Following is some related
details:

Faculty's personal website will be located under
/faculty/ directory.

Ph.D
students' personal websites will be located under
/faculty/phd/ directory (have the option to transfer the
website to /faculty/ directory if appropriate).

Student Club websites will be located under
/organizations/ web directory. More updated clubs
information can be found at
MBA
Networth website. If you want to add your club
website URL to MBA Networth Clubs page (http://mbanetworth.rhsmith.umd.edu,
then Clubs), send request to
helpme@rhsmith.umd.edu.

Everyone will be able to access your website via
SharePoint Designer 2007 by default, which is similar to
FrontPage 2003. While if you only have basic HTML pages,
you may choose to use FrontPage 2003.

We are not granting users FTP access as it is
not safe. If you do need FTP access, please indicate in
the Comments area and provide a
reason. If you already work on local website,
you can copy your files and paste to the server in your
Web client.

Students do not have personal Web sites on the Smith
school's Web server. If you are a student and need a
personal Web space, please contact
campus OIT
helpdesk or visit
TerpConnect
website. Here is an online document
Publishing Web Pages On Your TerpConnect Account.

Maintaining the nice 'look and feel' of the Web site in
a consistent manner is important, and therefore we would
like to ask anyone requesting access to try convert
their websites with the current Smith school look (it's not
required though). You can send email to
webupdates@rhsmith.umd.edu to request a general
template.
