Financial Services Fellows

This program is designed for students interested in the financial services industry, including traditional banking (loan officer, personal banking officer) and the financial services industry (financial planners, personal investment managers). Emphasis on financial services: traditional banking, financial planners, personal investment managers. Potential partners may include commercial banks, savings and loans, credit unions, insurance companies, and financial planning firms. In addition to traditional courses taken by all finance majors, students in this program will attend a dedicated section of Commercial Bank Management, BMGT 445FP section.

Curriculum -- 1 year program

  • BMGT 340 (Business Finance) Sophomore year or Fall of Junior year
  • BMGT 313 FP section (Financial Statement Analysis) Fall of Junior or Senior year (prior to taking BMGT445 FP). BMGT 313 (Financial Statement Analysis) is required for all Financial Fellows. Two dedicated sections will be offered in Fall Semester for Emerging CFO's and Financial Services fellows, students may enroll in either section.
  • ECON 330 (Money & Banking) Fall of Junior or Senior year. If necessary, ECON 330 can be taken in the spring, concurrently with BMGT445FP section, but it is preferable that it be taken and completed prior to taking BMGT 445 FP.
  • BMGT 445 FP section (Banking and Financial Institutions) Spring of Junior or Senior year

*Program is open to rising Juniors and Seniors but must be completed within one year of being admitted.

  • Finance Fellows Speaker Series (3 speakers each semester)
  • Optional non-credit trips
  • Optional winter-term three credit study trip

NOTE: Fellows are required to attend 4 out of 6 events. The speaker series also require writing a 1-2 page reflection paper following each event.

Fellows Application Eligibility

  • Must be a Finance Major
  • Minimum Junior Standing. Rising juniors may apply
  • Grade of B- or better in BMGT340 (may complete either spring semester at time of application or fall semester. Admission is provisional contingent upon satisfactory completion of BMGT340)
  • Cover letter explaining why you want to participate in the program
