Mark Wellman Recognized as 2008 Outstanding Faculty Educator

Prof. WellmanCollege Park, Md. – October 10, 2008 – University of Maryland students and their parents selected Mark Wellman, Tyser Teaching Fellow at the Robert H. Smith School of Business, with the 2008 Outstanding Faculty Educator Award. The award is presented each year by the Maryland Parents Association to honor a faculty member who demonstrates a deep commitment to providing an exemplary education experience for students. Wellman is a faculty member in the Smith School’s management and organization department and serves as director of the Business, Society & Economy program of the university’s College Park Scholars program. He will be honored at an award ceremony tomorrow at the Samuel Riggs IV Alumni Center on campus.

Jim Spina Wins Best Team Teaching Award from GSBA Zürich

James SpinaCollege Park, Md. - November 14, 2008 - Jim Spina, a lecturer in the management and organization department at the Robert H. Smith School of Business, has been selected to receive the "Best Team Teaching Award" from the Graduate School of Business Administration Zϋrich (GSBA) in Switzerland. Spina was selected to receive the award because of his successful MBA block in corporate strategy. It is based on achieving the highest student ratings of all teams that taught at GSBA this year. The award will be presented in February 2009 at the Zϋrich MBA Forum: "Management Challenges 2009." The Smith School and GSBA have partnered to deliver a global executive MBA (EMBA) program (SMITH-GSBA Global EMBA).
