This summer, academic experts and business leaders from 28 countries gathered in Taiwan for the 22nd annual Frontiers in Service Conference, sponsored by the Center for Excellence in Service (CES) at the University of Maryland, College Park.
The 5th annual conference on complexity in business will be held in downtown Washington, DC on November 7 and 8, 2013. This conference, sponsored by the Center for Complexity in Business at the Robert H. Smith School of Business is the premier meeting to discuss research at the intersection of complex systems and business. The conference will be a 1.5 day event and will include talks by thought leaders and an audience blend of academics and industry practitioners.

The Annual Complexity in Business Conference endeavors to be the premier meeting for the intersection of Complex Systems and Business.
The University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business will host “X-Treme Management: Managing in Times of Crisis,” Feb. 16-18, 2012.
The Robert H. Smith School of Business recently co-hosted a Washington D.C. gathering of about 70 senior policymakers and banking executives for a discussion of key issues relating to enhancing systemic risk awareness, harmonization and integration in global systemic risk regulation.
The Bretton Woods Committee and Deloitte partnered with Smith in the July 26 event titled "Navigating transformational change of the global financial landscape: Realizing systemic stability, avoiding unintended consequences.”
Can game theory help decision makers? “Sometimes” seemed to be the answer, in a wide-ranging dialogue between Dr. Thomas Schelling, recipient of the 2005 Nobel Prize in Economics, and William Mayer, senior partner of Park Avenue Equity Partners and former dean of the Smith School. The discussion was held at the BB&T Colloquium on Capitalism, Ethics and Leadership on Thursday, November 8, 2012. The annual event, hosted by the Center for Leadership, Innovation and Change (CLIC), is sponsored by BB&T and held at the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business.
