CSVC-CIBER Collaborations In Full Effect

Emerging Markets Forum, Sri Lanka Student Program Give CSVC Global Touch

The Center For Social Value Creation is always looking for innovative ways to work with other organizations, from across the DC metropolitan region to right within the walls of Smith. Recently we’ve been engaged in a number of ways with our suite neighbors in the Center for International Business Education and Research.

First and foremost, on April 13th the CSVC and CIBER co-hosted the Second Annual Emerging Markets Forum at the Ronald Reagan International Trade Center in Washington, D.C. The theme, "Women as Entrepreneurs, Consumers and Agents of Change" forum attracted experts representing academia, government and business. Panelists discussed the way women are thriving in public and private sector leadership roles, including those who have capitalized on microfinance and governmental reforms designed to spur developing economies. Key guests included Rupert Scofield, President and CEO of FINCA, as well as former Hewlett-Packard CEO Carly Fiorina. Read more about the event here.

Second, the CSVC and CIBER have launched the second year of their Sri Lanka Consulting Program. Working with the VEGA- Facilitating Economic Growth of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), the program sends graduate students to work with small and medium sized enterprises on the island to apply business and policy solutions to real-world problems in government, education, sustainable agriculture, and poverty alleviation. Participants will be blogging about their experiences abroad on both Center blogs.

Collaborative approaches to programs and opportunities are always welcome, and we are happy to both bring champions of social value creation here to DC as well as send our students to apply its principles around the world!
