A Changemaker Campus
In
2008, the Smith School was selected as an inaugural "Changemaker Campus," in
partnership with Ashoka, a global association of leading social entrepreneurs.
Together with partner campuses across the country, the center is pursuing
leadership and excellence in social entrepreneurship education, with the goal of
transforming universities into hubs of social innovation and producers of
generations of social entrepreneurs and changemakers.
Faculty and staff from the Smith School—with students
from across the University of Maryland campus—are
spearheading the effort, building on the school’s leadership
in programs and research that encourage the creation of
social value and socially responsible business practices.
