Please join Catherine Rodgers, IBM Vice President for Global Opportunities,
for an exclusive presentation titled "Sustainability and the Creation of Social
Value" on Wednesday March 28th from 11 a.m. to Noon. Hosted by the Center for
Social Value Creation and the Robert H. Smith School of Business, this is an
exclusive opportunity to learn from one of IBM’s most sought after executives.
Ms. Rodgers is responsible for IBM’s Global Services Worldwide Strategic
Relations and has been instrumental in driving cooperative relationships with a
wide variety of key independent software vendors (ISV), original equipment
manufacturers (OEM) and Services business partners. Her leadership, integrity
and creative partnering approaches have paved the way for a world-class
engagement model in the growing area of 'multi-sourcing' and co-opetition. She
currently Chairs the IBM GTS Smarter Planet/Cities Global Advisory Board, is the
Chairperson for ISM (Institute of Supply Management) Committee on Sustainability
& Social Responsibility, sits on Tech America's Commercial Executive Board of
Directors and is a member of Tech America's International Environmental
Committee

About Catherine: Catherine Rodgers is IBM Vice President for Global
Opportunities, responsible for providing complex global opportunity engagement
and pursuit leadership on approximately $10B annual pipeline of international
deals. She speaks regularly on the topic of sustainability, supply chain,
creating a smarter planet and women in business. Her passion, bold thinking,
teamwork and commitment to being a positive catalyst for change has continued to
have a significant positive impact on her team, her global colleagues, the
people she mentors and the clients she supports. Catherine has been recognized
twice as woman of the year in business in California, has received a special
accommodation from the Governor of California and was previously featured in the
New York Times for her work with minority suppliers. Cathy holds a
B.A., M.A. in Education/Community Services, and an MBA with a minor in Finance
and holds a lifetime teaching credential.

4th Annual Social Enterprise Symposium
From Vision to Value: Creating a Better World through Business
Mark your calendars! The fourth annual Social Enterprise Symposium will be held
at the STAMP Student Union on March 1, 2012 from noon to 9 p.m.! This event,
which brings together over 800 students and industry professionals, is
considered one of the largest events on social responsibility and social value
creation in the Washington DC area.
Developed with the input of University of Maryland MBA's and undergraduates,
the symposium aims to create a dialogue among future leaders, students,
professionals, and other stakeholders about the role of business in creating
lasting social and environmental change.
Join us for a full day of engaging speakers, enriching content, hands-on
workshops, one-on-one opportunities with corporate leaders, and so much more.
Hear a live web feed with actor and philanthropist Kevin Bacon to kick off our

The Center For Social Value Creation of the Smith School will be presenting on
the basics of social innovation and frameworks for business planning beyond
profit. The second half of the session, staff will be available for one-on-one
