  • Louiqa Raschid, professor of information systems, is part of a team of researchers awarded a $2-million grant from the National Science Foundation (NSF) for data management research for the life sciences.

Our Facilities
The home of the Robert H. Smith School of Business is Van Munching Hall, one of the most advanced facilities in the world for management education and research in the digital economy. In 2002, Smith opened a $38-million, 103,000-square-foot addition to the building. The new wing features next-generation technology infrastructure with 21 classrooms. meeting rooms equipped with advanced audio-visual and conferencing capabilities, building-wide wireless network coverage, four student computer labs and five netcentric teaching and research laboratories. A $20 expansion of Van Munching Hall started in August 2006 and will be completed in fall 2007.                                                                                                      ►More

Our Technology

  • Smith provided Nextel BlackBerry wireless handheld devices to all of its full-time MBA students at the start of the fall 2004 and 2005 semesters. The objective of the groundbreaking initiative is to encourage Smith School MBAs to explore the potential of “always on” technology and to teach them how to leverage such technology in the educational experience.
  • The Office of Information Technology has begun wiring campus dorms for wireless access, so students can be even more connected.
