Faculty and PhD Students are entitled to accounts on the research servers at the Smith School. Requests should be made to helpme@rhsmith.umd.edu. All users are expected to have signed the Acceptable Use Policy before accessing the systems.  The research servers are:

 

alex2:
Server Type - Dell PowerEdge R610
Operating System - Redhat Linux - RHEL6
Two 6 core Xeon 3.5GHz processors, total 12 core processors
Memory - 96GB RAM
Storage - 20TB Raid6 Storage

alexandra:
Server Type - Sun Fire V250
Operating System - Solaris 10
Two Sun Sparc II 1.5GHz processors
Memory - 16GB RAM
Storage - 3.2 TB Raid5 Storage
Hostname: alexandra.bmgt.umd.edu

GPU Server: (upcoming in near future)
Server Type: Server based on CUDA (Compute Unified Device Architecture)
Operating System: Windows
Primarily serving GPU simulations for Matlab etc. using
Tesla GPU card with around 500-1000 processor cores and upto 1.2-2.0 TFLOPs of processing power.
