Technology @ R.H.Smith -Baltimore University of Maryland BioPark

The Smith School occupies more than 14,000 square feet in BioPark Two, 801 W. Baltimore St. on the campus of the University of Maryland, Baltimore.  The Smith School occupies Suite 100.

Suite 100 includes technology-equipped classrooms, team break-out rooms staff offices, a conference room, and a small computer lab with network printers.

Smith@Baltimore Classrooms

Each classroom is equipped with:

  • Windows computer with CD burner
    • - see Software list
  • Bose speaker sound system
  • Ceiling-mounted projector
  • Overhead transparency projector
  • Document camera
  • VCR
  • DVD
  • Wireless internet (UM campus login)
  • Novell (access to Smith School K drive)
Faculty may also bring their own laptops and connect to projectors in the classrooms.  Contact Baltimore tech support if you need help connecting.

To request additional software on a Baltimore classroom/lab pc, please fill out the same form that's used for VMH.

Computer Labs

There are computer workstations and network printers in the suite.  Students will use their R.H. Smith username and password to log onto the PCs and to print.  Smith Grad Students receive 600 pages of free printing at the beginning of Fall and Spring terms for printing at this and any other campus.  

MySmith - Application Portal

All the classroom and open workstation computers in Baltimore have Internet access and Citrix installed so you can use the MySmith tab on the my.umd.edu portal for access to supported applications.  See http://rhsmith.umd.edu/portal/ for more information about the ySmith application portal - including a list of available applications.

UMID - Your University Directory login

Your University Directory ID (link) is used to access applications via the mySmith portal and Blackboard Course Management System.

Testudo is the University source of web services for students; including Registration, Campus Calendar, Schedule of Classes and much more. TIP:  Keep your email address in Testudo up to date - the email address here is where Blackboard sends your email!
