Hours of Operation

Audio Visual equipment and technical assistance is available Monday through Thursday, 7:00am until 10:00pm and on Fridays, 7:00am to 6:00pm whenever scheduled classes are in session.

 

How to Contact us

The typical functions that Smith IT Staff are able to support are lectures, visual presentations, conferences and general meetings. Some important things to be aware of:

  • Any group using the Audio Visual equipment must make prior arrangements with Audio Visual Services for instructions and training if it is needed to use the equipment.
  • Any Non-Smith School group planning on using the technology available in Van Munching Hall must first obtain approval from the management of Smith IT.

How to Contact us

As with all Smith IT services, you may call the Helpdesk at x52269. Outside of Helpdesk hours of operation AV services staff may be found in:

  • Master Control, Room 1530A, x55213  OR
  • AV Staff Offices, Rooms 3520D or 3520S, x59411, x59548, and x52578
  • Email us at helpme@rhsmith.umd.edu.

If you need technical support in the classrooms, please use the “Call for Assistance” button on the touch panels first. That is your fastest way to reach classroom support.

 

Requesting Support for Special Events

Any support needed outside of regular business hours, or that create greater demands than usual on our support team during normal business hours will be subject to a fee to be set by Audio Visual Services Management. More information on requesting special support along with a fee chart can be found on our Rates and Services page.

To request AV services, please fill out the Audio Visual Request form, and Smith IT will contact you to verify your request.
