Your Profiles

What is a profile?

Everyone in the R.H.Smith address book has a BMGT profile document, whether currently enrolled or an alumni.  AND every employee or student of also has a campus UMID profile.  These profiles should include your most up-to-date contact information.  This data will be used as a reference, not only for forwarding emails to you, but also to capture other pertinent statistics for the School such as degree program and concentration, current employment information, etc. You can choose to make  information "Public" or "Private" such as home address, work information. 

Please maintain correct location and contact information for yourself in your TWO campus profiles:  BMGT and UMID

BMGT Address Book Profiles

To access a complete listing of Smith Faculty, Staff and Students, you can access the BMGT Address book through the Lotus Notes Client or from the BMGT Address book on the web.

Everyone with a Notes account has a profile located in the BMGT Address Book. Whether you use the Notes email or not (no, you don't have to use Notes to get @rhsmith email - see "using other eMail clients"), it is important to keep your information up-to-date so that other faculty, staff and students can locate your office, phone number, or email address.  Only you can keep this profile up to date.  If you're setting it for the first time, or if your address or contact information changes, just open your personal entry in the BMGT address book, click the edit button, and change that information. For a way to do this over the web, please go to update your profile.

Profiles for currently enrolled students are located in the BMGT Address Book. Profiles for Alumni are located in the Alumni Address Book.

How do you update your BMGT profile - Faculty and Staff?

  1.  Go to the BMGT Address book in your Notes Client or login to (you will need your Notes username and internet password).
  2. Click on People in the left column.
  3. Search for your entry in the address book by last name and click on it to open it up.
  4. Click on the Edit Person at the top of the window and edit your data.  From here, you can change your internet password in the Internet Password field or even add a forwarding address in the Forwarding Address field.  Make sure your office phone and room number are correct under the Current Work Information tab.
  5. When you are done, click Save and Close

How do you update your BMGT profile - MBA students

  1. Go to

University Directory Profiles

Faculty/Staff profiles

The source of the campus University Directory information is the ARES human resources system for faculty and staff.  This system is used not only to create the University Faculty Staff Directory, but also DETERMINES WHERE YOUR BLACKBOARD EMAIL GOES and where other important communications are sent. To update the ARES faculty staff profile:

  1. Go to

  2. Click on Payroll and Human Resources from the list on the left side of the page.
  3. Click on Display/Update Personal Data.  or click this link to go there from here.
  4. You will be asked for your UMID and PIN.  If you have trouble logging in on this screen, please contact the OIT Help desk at 301-405-1500.
  5. This screen will list the information the campus human resources department knows about you. 
  6. IMPORTANT: When you are done making your changes, click the Update button at the bottom of the page to save your changes.
Your changes will be reflected in the University Directory within 24 hours. 

Student Profile

The source of data for students is and TESTUDO.  Current Students go to  Click the link to "keep your email address up to date" and follow instructions.  THIS ADDRESS IS WHERE YOUR BLACKBOARD EMAIL AND OTHER IMPORTANT CAMPUS COMMUNICATIONS WILL BE SENT - so keep it up to date.  Blackboard will recognize the change within 24-48 hours.
