Smart Globalization - In the Age of China and India

The rise of China and India is changing the structure of the global economy. This is what happens when two countries which account for 40 percent of the world's population also become the two fastest growing economies in the world. Even in the midst of the current global crisis when every other major economy will see a recession in 2009, China and India are still projected to grow. In its November 2008 report to The White House on Global Trends 2025, the National Intelligence Council captured these profound shifts accurately when it noted that "In terms of size, speed, and directional flow, the global shift in relative wealth and economic power now under way—roughly from West to East—is without precedent in modern history."

Presented by the Smith School of Business and the Center for International Business Education and Research (CIBER)  at the University of Maryland, this conference will bring together leading scholars, senior corporate leaders, and seasoned entrepreneurs in a discussion on how the China-India phenomenon must reshape national policies and business strategies.
