THE CHAIR
For more than 40 years the name Rudy Lamone has been synonymous
with brilliant teaching, transformative leadership, and a focus on
incubating some of the most creative entrepreneurs to ever attend
Maryland. His effect on thousands of Smith School students cannot be
quantified, but his legacy will always be represented in the values
those students have taken with them out into the world.
Because of this, the Smith School would like to formally
recognize the impact that Rudy has had on the life of this school
through the creation of the Rudolph P. Lamone Chair for
Entrepreneurial Leadership.
The Rudolph P. Lamone Chair for Entrepreneurial Leadership at the
University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business will be
awarded for demonstrated thought leadership in innovation and
entrepreneurship.
The areas of interest include:
- The study and/or practice of the entrepreneurial and
innovative process through which individuals and organizations
transform ideas into products and services that result in social
and economic welfare
- The creation, management and growth of firms in societies
- The opportunities and challenges encountered in the
diffusion of innovations as they relate to transformation of
individual mindsets, institutions, government policy, and
societal norms
