QUEST Program One of 10 Competing for $25K Eco-Grant,
Publicity & Prizes in mtvU GE ecomagination Challenge
The
innovative idea of a solar-powered trash compacting receptacle for a class
project has launched a team of students in the Robert H. Smith School of
Business's Quality Enhancement Systems and Teams (QUEST) Program into the
national spotlight. They have been selected by mtvU, MTV’s 24-hour college
network, and GE, as one of the top 10 student projects in the first-ever mtvU GE
ecomagination Challenge. Over 100 student groups nationwide submitted for the
competition, with ambitious proposals addressing everything from energy
conservation to urban runoff and waste production to wildlife preservation. The
10 finalists’ projects stood out as the most innovative and pragmatic plans for
improving campus sustainability. [

The GE Healthcare team was honored with the
PricewaterhouseCoopers Consulting Project of the Year Award.

The posters were set out, the props were in place, the students were in
suits, and the atmosphere was electric. The first QUEST & GE Innovation and
Consulting Conference, held on December 13, 2006, was the highlight of the year
for seniors in the Smith School’s Quality Enhancement and Teams (QUEST) Program.
More than 200 people gathered to view the storyboards and hear student teams
describe their consulting projects on a night that capped off months of hard
work and preparation. [
