Crystal Group

To be eligible for this scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Enrolled as a full-time undergraduate student, working toward a bachelor's degree with either a major or minor within the business program
  • Is a member of the military (including current military, reservists, ROTC cadets and veterans), a child of a military service-member, or a spouse of a military member
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Must have completed at least 60 semester hours to be eligible
  • Submit typed (double-spaced) essay answering one of the posed questions

iModules Scholarship

Amount - $1,500. Application timeline - Deadline is April 1, 2014.

  • Must be full time student for the Fall 2014 semester .
  • Must be attending or will be attending a school that is an iModules client for the Fall 2014 semester (Smith School of Business is an iModules client.)

Maryland Parents Association Student Scholarship Award

Amount - up to $2,000.  Application timeline  - See website.

  • Provides assistance to current undergraduate students in good standing who may be unable to continue their education at the University due to extenuating personal or family financial circumstances.
  • A scholarship of up to $2000 per student will be awarded for the academic year.
  • A total of 12 awards may be granted annually.

ALPFA/HCF Scholarship program

Amount - $1250-1500.  Application timeline  - see website.

  • Must be Hispanic or of Hispanic descent.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident residing in the United States or Puerto Rico.
  • Must be studying at an accredited university in the U.S. or Puerto Rico for the upcoming academic year.
  • Must be (or plan to be) enrolled full-time for the upcoming academic year. 
  • Must have earned and maintain a cumulative Grade Point Average of no less than 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
  • Student must demonstrate financial need.
  • Must be pursuing a undergraduate or master's degree in business, finance or accounting.

Army ROTC- University of Maryland

  • A US Citizen.
  • Less than 27 years old upon graduation.
  • A full time student with a minimum of 2.5 cumulative GPA.
  • Physically and medically fit and have no more than 3 dependents and no civil convictions or history of substance abuse.

GEICO's Achievement Awards

  • Be a sophomore or junior at a four-year, accredited college or university.
  • Achieved a 3.0 or better, overall grade point average.
  • Has made valuable contributions in his/her field, campus and/or community.

Government Finance Officers Association

  • A US Citizen.
  • Less than 27 years old upon graduation.
  • A full time student with a minimum of 2.5 cumulative GPA.
  • Physically and medically fit and have no more than 3 dependents and no civil convictions or history of substance abuse.

National Contract Management Association - Outstanding Academic Acheivement Award

Amount - Varies.  Application timeline  - Spring semester.

  • Application must contain an essay and a letter of recommendation.
  • Must be enrolled in a program that is leading to a degree.
  • Must have a developed a high level of achievement in academia and a commitment to the acquisition profession.

Surety Association Minority Scholarship

Amount - $2,500.  Application timeline - See website.

  • Must be an accounting or business/finance major, insurance/risk managment major.
  • Must have an overall and major GPA of 3.0.
  • Must have completed atleast 30 credit hours, including atleast 6 semester hours in his/her declared.
  • Must be a minority student.
  • Must provide an essay and two recommendations.
  • Must be a full-time undergraduate student.

Dreamkeepers Emergency Financial Assistance

  • University of Maryland program designed to help students avoid dropping out of school when faced with unforeseen financial difficulties.
  • Dreamkeepers can help ease student worries about housing, food and utilities, transportation, childcare and medical needs, allowing students faced with sudden financial obstacles to focus their energy on education.

Webucator

Amount - $1,000. Application timeline - March 31, 2015

  • Open to all students who study computer science with the intention of using knowledge gained to provide leadership in their chosen field [business].
  • Student is enrolled full time in an undergraduate or graduate degree program at a college or university in the United States.
  • Student has completed at least one computer science class* with a grade of at least 3.4 out of 4.0 or the equivalent.
  • Student has concrete plans to take at least one computer science class in the upcoming school year.
  • Student has a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.0 out of 4.0 or the equivalent.
  • Student agrees that Webucator may announce his/her name and college on its website and social media.

* If it is unclear by the title of the class, students must explain how the class relates to computer science.

Accounting Majors

American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) Scholarship

Amount - $1,000-$5,000.  Application timeline  - Check website.

MD Society of Accountants

Amount  - $2,000 for full-time students; $1,000 for part-time.  Application timeline  - Check website.

  • Must be a Maryland resident enrolled in an accredited Maryland university, college, or community college.
  • Major in accounting, leading to a degree or certificate.
  • Must have maintained a 3.0 GPA in both, accounting and overall.
  • Must complete the application and submit the required transcript.
  • Must have completed Accounting Principles I and II with grades of B or better.
  • Prepare 250 word essay.

Ritchie-Jennings Memorial Scholarships

Amount - $1,000-10,000.  Application timeline  - Check website.

  • Must be an undergraduate or graduate student, currently enrolled full-time (taking at least 12 semester hour undergrad or 9 hours graduate) at an accredited four-year college or university with a declared major in accounting, businees, finance, or criminal justice.

Information Systems Majors

Foundation for IT Education (multiple scholarships)

Amount - $2,500  Application timeline  - Check website.

  • Applicants must be pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or a similar program.
  • Overall GPA of 3.0 or better.
  • Enrolled as a full-time (12 semester hours or equivalent) undergraduate or graduate student at an accredited institution in the United States.
  • A U.S. Citizen or U.S. Permanent Resident.
  • An an AITP student member.

Logistics, Business, and Public Policy Majors

R. Gene and Nancy D. Richter Foundation - R. Gene Richter Scholarship Program

Amount - Up to $5,000.  Application timeline  - Annual deadline is in February. 

  • Seek education in the area of supply chain management-procurement.
  • Eligible students will be entering their senior year and be enrolled full time in an accredited supply management program with the intention of specializing in the supply management profession.
  • Scholarship recipients will be chosen based on outstanding academic achievement, high ethical standards, and potential to become a future leader in the procurement field.  

American Association of Railroad Superintendents (AARS)

Amount - $1,000.  Application timeline  - Check website.

  • Be enrolled at the time of application as a full-time undergraduate or graduate student at an accredited college or university; preference given to those pursuing a bachelor or graduate degree in transportation or a related curriculum.
  • Demonstrate successful completion of the previous year of study by maintaining at least a 2.75 accumulated grade point average on a scale of 1 to 4 with an "A" equal to 4.
  • Accumulate enough credits from accredited school(s) in time for the Fall Semester to have obtained at least a sophomore level standing at the college or university of enrollment.

National Defense Transportation Association (NDTA) (multiple scholarships)

  • Minimum 3.0 grade point average on a 4.0 scale as indicated by an official school transcript.
  • Planned use of Merit Scholarship funds and career goals as described in a student essay of not more that 250 words.
  • Completion of a minimum of 30 semester hours (or quarter hour equivalent) for undergraduate applicants and a minimum of 12 semester hours (or quarter equivalent) for graduate applicants.

Marketing Majors

Ron Garikes Student Scholarship

Amount - $1,500.  Application timeline  - Check website.

  • The student's college must be located in United States and the institution's accreditation must be recognized by the Council of Higher Education Accreditation.
  • The student must be currently enrolled and pursuing a bachelor's degree, associate's degree or a graduate degree in Marketing, Public Relations and/or Communications.
  • The student must be enrolled full-time, with a course load of atleast 12 semester hours. Students pursuing a graduate degree must be enrolled for a minimum of 6 credits.
  • The student must currently have a cumulative GPA of 3.0
  • Two letters of recommendation must accompany the student's application; one from either the academic advisor or a professor in the degree program i n which the student is enrolled, and the other from a person who can speak to the student's passion about his/her major.
  • The student may not have previously received any scholarship award from the SMPS Foundation or more than one scholarship from a SMPS chapter.
  • The student must respond to one of two essay questions.
