“The sense of family is unique to Smith”
Why did you choose to attend the Smith School of Business?
I chose to attend Smith for the simple reason that I enjoyed every moment that I spent on the campus. The students were willing to take time out of their day and the Admissions department was engaging and helpful. I chose Smith for the sense of family I immediately felt by being a prospective student—a feeling I have not lost as a first year.
In your opinion, what makes the Smith MBA program unique?
The sense of family is unique to Smith (and was the reason why I chose to attend). It is clear that program stakeholders (faculty, administration and students) play for the “love of the game.” The sense of camaraderie is reinforced in many ways—from the commitment to team work in the assigned work and the focused attention we get from our career coaches. I would love to be able to introduce guests to Van Munching Hall to the ways of the Smith MBA program.
What advice would you give to future Smith MBA candidates?
Honesty goes a long way. Not only does it help you sleep better at night, it lets you know if Smith is a right fit for you. A person with sharp elbows may not succeed as well here as they would at other competitive MBA programs. That is okay. The important thing to remember is that it is better to be where one belongs than where one thinks he or she should be.
