Baltimore Campus:
Amanda Buchanan
I'm
a 3rd year student in the Baltimore
Campus and I work as a retirement
actuary for Mercer Human Resource
Consulting. I applied to Smith because I
realized that it was important for me to
move beyond the wonderful world of math
and expand my horizons through obtaining
an MBA. The Smith MBA program has made
me well-rounded, marketable and has
already enabled me to make better
management decisions. In addition, the
global business opportunities with Smith
are fantastic. In June, I traveled to
China to do an independent study for the
Dingman Center for Entrepreneurship and
in January, I will be traveling to India
to attend an international finance
class. The global opportunities,
intelligent and friendly students, and
the award-winning professors have all
contributed to my positive experiences
at Smith.
E-mail Amanda.
Meena Shah
I am a 2nd year
student at the Baltimore campus. I
graduated from Carnegie Mellon
University with an degree in Chemical
Engineering. Since graduation, I have
been working at DuPont in a variety of
engineering roles. Smith's
world-renowned faculty, especially in
Supply Chain Management, is what first
attracted me to the school. The breadth
and flexibility of the curriculum, as
well as the ability to take classes at
multiple locations consistent with my
work schedule made Smith an ideal choice
for pursuing my MBA. In addition to
classes, I have been actively involved
in a variety of organizations throughout
the Smith community, and am
participating in a global studies class
in Dubai.
E-mail Meena.
Elia Cossis
I
am a 1st year MBA student working as a
consultant for RPI Consultants located
in Baltimore, MD. We help large
healthcare organizations implement and
optimize their ERP system and streamline
back-office business processes. I chose
Smith because I plan on staying in the
consulting field. By allowing students
the flexibility of developing a tailored
program, customizing it to the
particular needs and interests of the
individual, Smith reflects the life of
the consultant who must serve the
various needs of different clients.
E-mail Elia.
Shady Grove Campus:
Salima Usman
I
am a 1st year MBA student at Smith. I
currently work for a company called
Digital Receiver Technology (DRT) as a
software programmer.
I chose Smith because I feel it
has a well-rounded curriculum, and I
especially like the fact that it uses
the cohort system.
This system not only allows you to
really get to know the students in your
class a lot better, but also provides a
well-organized and structured system for
completing your MBA.
In addition, even though the
program is fast-paced, you learn a large
amount of information in diverse areas
of business from professors who seem
dedicated and enthusiastic about
teaching.

Salima.
Claire Tay
I
am a first year student in Smith's
Part-time program at the Shady Grove
Campus. Upon graduating with a degree in
Systems and Computer Science, I acquired
a full time position as a Data Analyst
at Kaiser Permanente. My current
position offers the opportunity to
combine my I.T and quantitative
background and skills. I then decided to
pursue an MBA to acquire targeted
business knowledge to help spearhead my
career into management roles. Attaining
an MBA program in a reputable school was
my main goal. After extensive research
and attending various schools'
information sessions, Smith's Part-time
program proved to be most ideal. I
prefer Smith because of its diverse
student body, award-winning faculty,
global studies, highly recognized
curriculum and also proximity to my job.

electives, and emphasizes teamwork in
the classroom. Within my first year,
Smith has already taught me skills that
I can put to use in the work place!

I am a 1st year evening
student at the DC campus. I currently
work in organization and strategy at a
large consulting firm. Before working
in private industry, I worked at a
federal government agency. I decided to
pursue an MBA because I want to

help open doors to future
opportunities. I also wanted the
flexibility to work in both government
and commercial industries, which an MBA
will help prepare me for. I chose the
Smith program because of its national

faculty and an international focus. I
am currently taking the core curriculum,
but am excited to start taking

into Marketing, IT Project Management,
and Management Consulting roles. I
currently split my time between managing
business development for a management

Accelerated MBA
Chris Vee
I
currently work for the Johns Hopkins
University in the IT department. Smith's
reputation was a big draw for me to stay
local with my education, and its use of
the same faculty to teach the full time
and part-time
programs helped to cement the part-time
program as a viable option. The
Accelerated MBA program will allow me to
complete my program in the same time
frame as a full time program without
removing me from the workforce and
denying the continued experience I gain.
I will be taking classes in
Baltimore and Shady Grove during my
second year.

I made
the decision to pursue an MBA degree to
become more well-rounded as a business
executive and position myself to advance
within my current organization. I am an
Area Sales Manager for Michelin Tires
covering the Washington, DC/Baltimore,
MD region. I enrolled in
the MBA/MS joint degree program to
attain an MS degree in Supply Chain
Management and Logistics. I believe that
attaining an MS degree in this field
will be a perfect fit for me since
supply chain management is a significant
aspect of Michelin's business and
strategic initiatives. E-mail Rodney.
Natalie Marcy
I wanted to
obtain an MBA to round out my technical
background with general business
knowledge to help me move into
management. I choose Smith not only
because of the reputation of the program
and the quality of the education, but
also because of what's offered outside
of class. The career resources aren't
just for those who want to switch
companies after getting an MBA, but also
for those who want to move ahead where
they are. There are also plenty of
networking opportunities with the
excellent student body and alumni.
E-mail Natalie.
Himanshu Patel
I
am an Aerospace Engineer working in
software/system Engineering. I thought
about the future environment of my
profession and planned how I can best
position my self to be successful and
content in it. Getting a MBA from a
well reputable B-school was one of the
requirements of my strategy. I then did
research of well reputable B-schools in
DC area (where I work). I attended
various schools’ information sessions, I
did online comparison, looked at
rankings, the faculty, school’s
strength/focus, and other important
attributes required from my strategy. I
then prepared for GMAT, scouted right
professionals to do my recommendations,
and applied to school.
