Program

The Smith Accelerated MBA is a cohort-formatted graduate business program designed to be completed in as few as 24 months. The first-year core is taught at Smith’s Baltimore or Shady Grove campus. During the second year, electives are taught at the Smith campus and program format of your choosing: Washington, D.C. (weekend or evening), Shady Grove (evening), Baltimore (evening). Students also have the opportunity to take advantage of Smith's Global Studies electives in their second year. During the first year, classes meet every Tuesday evening and on alternating Saturdays. The second-year schedule varies based on individual campus and program selection.

Summary of Credits for the Accelerated MBA
The program requires a total of 54 credits. After students complete the 30-credit core, the remaining 24 credits consist of electives. Electives are be selected from the traditional part-time MBA opportunities and are offered at the Baltimore, Shady Grove and Washington, D.C., campuses.

  • Accounting – 4 credits
  • Economics – 4 credits
  • Leadership & Human Capital – 4 credits
  • Data and Decision Making – 4 credits
  • Information Systems – 3 credits
  • Marketing – 3 credits
  • Supply Chain – 2 credits
  • Strategy – 2 credits
  • Finance – 4 credits

Electives

  • Students will complete 24 credits of electives selected from Smith's Evening and Weekend MBA Program at the Washington DC, Shady Grove, or Baltimore campuses.
  • Courses in the Evening and Weekend MBA Program vary between 2 and 3 credits. Students will complete between eight and twelve electives to earn their MBA.
  • Global Studies courses occur in January, May, and July each year. AMBA students may take up to two global studies trips in their second year while earning their MBA. Global Studies courses are either 3 or 4 credits, depending on the course and its requirements.
