WELCOME SMITH PARENTS!

We are pleased to announce a new initiative designed especially for Smith School Parents.

Dr. Susan Pearson ('75, PhD '84), vice chair of the Smith School Board of Advisors, is a proud Smith parent. Along with Dean Anand, Susan is excited to head up the new Smith School Parents’ Council, a group that encourages Smith parents to become lifelong members of the our community.

The Office of Development and Alumni Relations and The Office of Undergraduate Studies will work closely with Susan and her team to develop the Council throughout the 2012-13 academic year. A few of our goals include forming the leadership team for the Smith School Parents’ Council, increasing parent participation in the Annual Fund, increasing communications between the school and families, and planning outreach events.

Our first event, a brunch held at Van Munching Hall on February 23, 2013, was a resounding success. Dean Anand, Dean Mullins, Susan Pearson, and representatives from the Dean’s Student Advisory Council, Office of Career Services, and Office of Development and Alumni Relations spoke to a capacity crowd, giving an overview of new initiatives in the Smith School undergraduate program. For those who could not attend, we’ve provided downloads of the documents from Dean Mullins and Career Services, as well as a link to a video of the program.

Smith School Parents’ Council

The Smith School Parents’ Council is comprised of active and engaged Smith students’ parents, who serve as ambassadors on behalf of the Smith School, liaise between the dean and the greater Smith parent body, and advance the mission and goals of the school through support of the Smith School Annual Fund.
