Smith will host 2007 National Women MBA
Conference and Career Fair
Smith to Host 2007
National Women MBA Conference
Planning has
already gotten under way as Smith gets
ready to host the 2007 National Women
MBA Conference next fall. Smith was
awarded the event at this year’s
conference which was hosted by the Olin
School of Business at Washington
University in St. Louis. Every year the
privilege of hosting this event is
passed from one business school to
another and Smith is honored to be given
the opportunity to be the next site of
this influential event.
“Take the lead” is
the theme of the conference, which is
aimed at helping women advance in the
workplace. It is an opportunity for
women MBAs around the country to meet
with recruiters, network with fellow
Women MBAs and learn valuable skills
that will help them throughout their
careers. The event schedule is set to
include a career fair, industry career
panels, workshops and speakers.
Planning this
event gives Smith the opportunity to
take a fresh approach to the conference
and put together a program that will
benefit Women MBAs while in school and
upon graduation. As hosts the students,
faculty, and staff here at Smith have a
lot of decisions to make and programs to
plan over the next year. To ensure that
the school will be ready committees have
already been formed, a potential keynote
speaker list has been written, and panel
topics are being chosen.
“Hosting
the 2007 National Conference at Smith
will provide incredible exposure for our
program not only to employers, but also
to the general public. The event will
highlight our exceptional students,
faculty, and staff and is a remarkable
opportunity to network with
distinguished women across the country,”
said first year MBA student Rita Mullane,
who has been named co-chair of the event
along with fellow first year Loretta
Goodridge.
The conference is
scheduled to take place November 2-3 and
as the date draws closer more volunteers
will be needed to help plan, set-up, and
execute the event, so keep the date in
mind if you are interested in getting
involved.
