5. DC Net Impact Service Corps Projects for Spring 2009

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Below are the project descriptions for the Spring 2009 cycle of Net Impact DC Service Corps. To participate, please send an email to service.corps.dc@gmail.com

Project 1

Project type: marketing

Client is an international policy center that convenes educators, executives, policy makers and rising leaders from around the world for issue-centered exchange and problem-solving. The organization seeks a Service Corps consulting team to help research, build and test a strategy to raise the organization's visibility in and participation from the United States. The team will help identify institutional markets for the organization's programs and create a marketing plan to raise interest, inquiries, enrollment and fee income from prospective government, academic, NGO, and corporate organizations. As part of its research, the team will develop and test alternative pricing models and marketing messages with various groups. The organization has an annual operating budget of $10MM.

Project 2

Project type: strategy

Client connects senior and retired volunteers who have investment banking and capital markets experience with community development organizations who are seeking creative solutions to accessing new sources of capital. The goal of each project is to help a community development organization think through a financing need and identify the best sources and structures for funding it. Due to the recent market upheavals, the organization has had to re-evaluate its role and find new places to add value to the community economic development world. It has not yet designed a marketing campaign around this new mission, and seeks a Service Corps consulting team to create a structure for this.

Project 3

Project type: marketing

Client hosts an annual socially responsible business plan competition. The competition has been very successful and has experienced tremendous growth. The latest round of the competition has received over 100 business plan entries from socially responsible entrepreneurs and had over 175 judges. The organization is looking to build upon the success of past competitions and further continue the growth. As part of this project, the Service Corps consulting team is needed to assist the organization with devising a marketing strategy to reach social entrepreneurs outside of traditional business school and Net Impact channels.
