Join us for snacks and refreshing beverages and a discussion of the future (and past) of electric vehicles in this country. Professor Sampson will moderate the discussion.

Socially Responsible
Business Plan
Competition
We're looking for
individuals or teams
that are starting
for-profit businesses
with a socially
responsible/sustainable
component. These
businesses can be social
enterprises (for-profit
subsidiaries of
not-for-profits), and we
will accept plans that
have been submitted to
other competitions. At
least one member of the
team must be either a
current student or
recent graduate (within
10 years).
Executive Summaries (3-5
pages) are due on
November 16th. If
selected for the second
round, full plans are
due on February 8th.

JPMorgan Good Venture
Case Competition is open
for registration!
After a very successful
inaugural run last year
in the US, Good Venture
is now an international
competition allowing
students from around the
world to participate in
the competition for
socially responsive
graduate and
undergraduate students!

your proposal is October

What: Students choose a
nonprofit they believe
in -- and enter a
proposal to win $25,000
in direct funding from
JPMorgan.
How: Teams of up to four
students make the case
for a non-profit of
their choice. Finalists
will pitch to an
investment board of
JPMorgan executives and
the winning team will
actually have their
proposal funded!
When: Registration
deadline is October 26,
2007. The Finals will
take place December 6-7,
2007.
Where: Finals will be
held at JPMorgan
headquarters in New York
City. Travel and
accommodations will be
paid for by JPMorgan.

7. Congrats to the
University of Maryland
for coming in second in
the Solar Decathlon!
At the beginning of the
week, people wondered if
the Maryland team would
have a home-field
advantage because they
are so close to
Washington, D.C. As the
week progressed, and
Maryland won the
Communications contest
and was second in
Architecture, Market
Viability, and Lighting,
it became clear that
Maryland didn't need any
advantage. The
Communications Jury
praised their excellent
Web site and house tour.
The Architecture Jury
said the house
definitely belonged in
the top tier. The
Lighting and Market
Viability juries also
had high praise. They
were one of seven teams
to score a perfect 100
points in the Energy
Balance contest.
