1. Ashoka and University of Maryland – Student Program Information Session
September 26, 2008

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Date/Time: Friday, 9/26/08, 3-4 PM
Location: 1505 Van Munching Hall

Details: Ashoka is teaming up with 4 universities along the East Coast to bring students and faculty together with practitioners, thought leaders, and philanthropists to create new and effective partnerships for sustainable social change. The University of Maryland, through the Robert H. Smith School of Business, has been selected for the pilot program.

We are looking for a total of 4 students at the undergrad and graduate levels to join select faculty and staff in a one-year, pioneering initiative designed to deeply embed social entrepreneurship across campus, and to
establish the standards that will enable other universities to follow our lead.

As part of the program, you will:

*Participate in two training weekends in Washington, DC, where you'll learn from experts and practitioners in the field and develop your plan for campus change
*Apply the skills learned in a live competition to develop new solutions to an intractable global problem, through Ashoka's Changemakers.net
*Receive regular coaching from Ashoka staff and access to some of today's leading social entrepreneurs and thought leaders in the field
*And of course, transform the social entrepreneurship scene on the UM campus

If you would like an application or more info contact Melissa Carrier at mcarrier@rhsmith.umd.edu , 301-405-9517 or www.ashoka.org/changemakercampus.
